PORDENONE AND FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA
20th October – 5th November 20171917194720072017
Accordion without boundaries
2017 is a special year for the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. It is the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Caporetto; the 70th anniversary of the Paris Peace Treaty that brought about the partition of Gorizia and the Istrian-Dalmation exodus; and the 10th anniversary of Slovenia joining the Schengen area. These are events that lead us to reflect on history and on the destiny of this region of many borders in a Europe that is looking for new answers to the unsolved problems of yesterday and today.
The Fadiesis Accordion Festival wants to play its part in this reflection: through music, as a language without barriers, offered here in a range of forms with different ethnic and cultural origins. Through the physical form of the accordion, whose portability makes it in equal measure a symbol of transferability and a bearer of cultural identity. Through concerts, storytelling and images in which our past is reflected in a universal present. It will be a festival that will cross the boundaries of Pordenone and spread throughout the region. We will take you to some of the most moving and meaningful places of Friuli Venezia Giulia: a cave filled with memories, a medieval abbey – one of the oldest in the world – a museum of art and lifestyle, an ancient convent that tells the story of a city, two oustanding towns that are among the most beautiful in Italy. A journey filled with sound, discovery and reflection.
